• Q. What is the difference between the current formula and the new 5MO formula? Is it just a change in packaging?

No, it’s more than a packaging change. The new Karihome 5MO formula is an enhanced version of the formula you know and trust, now enriched with a blend of 5 Milk Oligosaccharides (5MO) — 2'-FL, 3-FL, LNT, 3'-SL and 6'-SL — together with naturally occurring goat milk oligosaccharides to support good Bifidus bacteria and help maintain a healthy digestive system.

It continues to be made with whole goat milk and provides key nutrients for your child’s everyday nutrition.

  • Q. Does Karihome Goat Milk formulas contain sucrose?

No sucrose is added in Karihome goat milk formulas. The source of sugar is the natural lactose inherent in goat milk. Rest assured the consumption of Karihome formulas will not cause sugar addition.

  • Q. Does Karihome Goat Milk formulas contain palm oil?

There is no palm oil in Karihome products.

The fat content of formula must be modified to include several essential fatty acids. Many formulas are based on skim milk where the milk fat is replaced by vegetable oils, including palm oil.1

DGC has adopted an alternative approach, using whole goat milk to retain milk fat. Vegetable oils are still added to top up the essential unsaturated fatty acids in goat milk, but it is not necessary to use palm oil if milk fat is included in the formula.

Our research has also shown that there is also no need to use highly modified ingredients such as OPO.2

  • Q. My child is on a gluten free diet. Can my child consume Karihome formulas?

Yes, your child can consume Karihome formulas at ease. Our formulas do not contain gluten cereal ingredients (e.g. wheat, rye, barley, oat) or ingredients derived from gluten cereal ingredients.

  • Q. What is 5MO?

5MO stands for 5 Milk Oligosaccharides — 2'-FL, 3-FL, LNT, 3'-SL and 6'-SL. They are a type of prebiotic that, together with naturally occurring goat milk oligosaccharides, promote the growth of good Bifidus bacteria to help maintain a healthy digestive system.

Gut health is important for overall well-being, as around 70% of the body’s immune cells are found in the gut. This is why maintaining a healthy digestive system is an important part of everyday nutrition.

  • Q. My child is allergic to eggs. Can he consume Karihome Goat Milk formulas?

Yes, he can! Rest assured that none of the ingredients used in Karihome Goat Milk formulas contain eggs or are derived from eggs.

  • Q. Why does the aluminum foil cover on the can bulge and can it still be used?

To keep the milk powder fresh, our manufacturer – Dairy Goat Co-Operative adds nitrogen and carbon dioxide inside the tin. When the gas filling is too full and the aluminum foil will protrude, rest assured this will not affect the quality.

  • Q. Why do I find lumps of milk powder in my can of formula?

    Is this normal?
Yes. Small, soft lumps can sometimes form during transport or storage and are usually harmless.

    Why does this happen?
Movement during transport can create static electricity, causing the milk powder to lightly clump. Warm or humid conditions may also cause natural milk sugars to form tiny crystals.

    Is it safe to consume?
Yes — if the powder looks normal, smells normal, and the lumps break apart easily when pressed or mixed. The nutritional value is not affected.

What should I do if I see small lumps?
Use a clean spoon to gently press or sieve the powder before preparation. It will dissolve normally.

When should I NOT use the milk formula?
If you see hard lumps together with colour changes (yellowish or brown), or notice an unusual smell or taste. This may indicate spoilage — please discard the product.

How should I store milk formula?

    • Store unopened tins in a cool, dry place
    • After opening, keep the lid tightly closed
    • Avoid heat and humidity
    • Use within 4 weeks and before the expiry date
  • Q. After mixing my child's formula, why do I find bubbly foam?

Karihome milk powders are rich in quality protein, so you may see foam in the milk bottle after mixing. Rest assured this is normal and the feed is safe for consumption.

One of the reasons you find excessive bubbly foam is due to vigorously shaking of the milk bottle during milk preparation. Excessive bubbly foam (additional air) can hinder your child's digestion or cause digestion issues in little ones, making them feel uncomfortable after feeding. Should you find excessive bubbly foam after preparing a feed, scoop it out of the bottle before giving the bottle to your little one.

It is recommended to rotate and swirl the milk bottle when preparing your child's feed. Gently swirl the bottle until no bubbles appear. Try to mix it with 40 ~ 45 ° C lukewarm water, as this temperature will produce least bubbles. Do not shake the bottle up and down and from side to side, as it will cause more bubbles.
